Privacy Policy

Privacy policy for Tidy Ecology: a static site with no cookies, no analytics and no ads. It explains what the optional email newsletter collects and how to unsubscribe.

Last updated: 2026-07-09

The short version

Tidy Ecology is a static website. It does not ask you to log in, sets no cookies of its own, runs no analytics, and shows no advertising. The only personal data it collects is the email address you give if you choose to subscribe to the newsletter, and you can remove that at any time.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Netlify. Like most web hosts, Netlify’s servers may automatically log standard technical information (such as IP address and browser type) for security and operational purposes. See Netlify’s privacy policy for details.

Analytics

This site uses no analytics.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own. Subscribing to the newsletter does not place a cookie either: the form sends your email address to the newsletter provider, and nothing is stored in your browser by us.

Web fonts

This site self-hosts its display and body fonts (Space Grotesk and IBM Plex): the font files are served from this domain, so no request is made to Google Fonts or any other third-party server and no data (including your IP address) is shared with a font provider.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to the newsletter, we collect your email address, and only your email address, so that we can send you new tutorials and occasional site updates. The legal basis is your consent: you give it by subscribing and then confirming your address from the email we send. We do not sell or share the list, and we do not send anything other than the newsletter.

The newsletter is run through Buttondown, an email service that stores the subscriber list on our behalf. Buttondown is based in the United States, so your email address is processed there; see Buttondown’s own privacy policy for the detail. Every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link, and one click removes your address; you can also ask us to remove it through the contact page. Your address is kept only while you are subscribed.

If you email us

If you write to the address on the contact page, your message and email address are used only to read and reply to it. They are not added to the newsletter list or shared with anyone.

Your rights

If you are in the EU or EEA (or a region with comparable data protection law, such as the UK), you have rights over any personal data held about you: you can ask for a copy of it, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to or restrict how it is used. In practice this concerns your newsletter subscription (if any) and any message you have sent; server logs are held by Netlify under its own policy.

To exercise any of these rights, use the contact page. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
